FAQs
What is the process like? How many appointments are there?
We schedule 3 appointments:
- Intake (~60 minutes, virtual or phone): we review history, concerns, and goals.
- Testing (~4 hours, in person): standardized testing with breaks; complex cases can run longer.
- Feedback (virtual): we explain results and recommendations, discuss any diagnoses, and provide your written report.
How long does the whole process take?
Every case is different, but most evaluations are completed in about 6–8 weeks from intake to feedback and written report. Timing can vary based on record review, scheduling, and case complexity.
Does my child need to attend every appointment?
Your child should attend the intake and the testing visit. The feedback appointment is optional; parents or caregivers can attend without them, or they can join if you prefer. If you want to minimize time out of school, we can schedule intake later in the day or virtually. Only testing must be in person.
Will my insurance cover testing?
Coverage depends on your plan and the reason for testing. Many plans require prior authorization and a medical-necessity review. We’ll verify your benefits and help with any authorizations, and we recommend you also call your plan to confirm your coverage.
Do you bill insurance directly?
Yes, for in-network plans. If we are out of network for your plan, we provide a superbill you can submit to your insurer for possible reimbursement.
What if I am uninsured or prefer to self-pay?
We provide a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) before scheduling or upon request, outlining expected charges.
How much does testing cost if I pay out of pocket?
Most evaluations use simple flat fees.
- A limited-scope assessment (brief, single-question testing) typically starts around $1,000.
- A comprehensive diagnostic evaluation is about $3,500.
We give you the exact amount in writing before scheduling, and we honor that amount for private pay with no surprise add-ons. We’ll also provide a Good Faith Estimate as required by federal rules.
Do you accept HSA or FSA cards?
Yes. We accept most HSA/FSA cards; please check your plan’s rules for eligible expenses.
What if my final bill is higher than my Good Faith Estimate?
If your final bill is $400 or more above the GFE for any listed provider or facility, you may qualify for the federal Patient-Provider Dispute Resolution process.
